PLB HDPE duct consists of two concentric layers, the outer layer being HDPE; co-extruded with an inner layer of solid silicone permanent lubricant, to reduce the internal co-efficient of friction (ICF). We are manufacturing in such a manner so that the lubricant shall become a solid layer of uniform thickness throughout the duct so formulated to provide a permanent, low friction boundary layer between the inner surface of the duct and Fiber-Optic Cable. The lubricant layer is clearly visible in cross section, concentric with the outer layer. The ducts contain 4 (four) eqvi-spaced continuous longitudinal strips of width 3mm minimum which is co-extruded during the duct manufacturing.
Alternatively the ducts can also be manufactured in homogenous construction (without a separate inner layer) with inside containing smooth lubricants for easy and convenient pulling of cables meeting all the generic requirements.
With advances in technology in modern day Telecommunications, over a period of time, it became very important to upgrade the HDPE pipes to be used particularly for Telecom applications. The Optical Fibre Cables used for Telecommunications being very delicate and sensitive, it became necessary to modify the HDPE Pipes to be used as conduits for optical fibre cables. This led to the development of Permanently Lubricated (PLB) HDPE Telecom Ducts.
'Hasti Pipe' was one of the first very few manufacturers to acquire technology and equipment for establishing complete manufacturing facility for PLB-HDPE Telecom Ducts. At 'Hasti Pipe', PLB-HDPE Telecom Ducts are manufactured using ultra-violet (UV) stabilized grade of HDPE with required Anti Oxidant content and other recommended additives. The inner layer of ducts is duly silicon coated which minimizes the friction between OFC and the duct during the process of blowing the cable into the ducts, thus providing smooth installation of OFC in the duct without damaging the cable fibres.
